Bradley wins singles title at charity tennis tourney

Bill Bradley defeated Bill Dahnke 6-4, 6-4 to win the men's open singles title over the weekend in the first annual All Cancer Erased tennis tournament at Southeast Missouri State University's courts.

Adrienne Bland beat Daniela Garcia 7-5, 7-5 in the women's open singles final.

Bradley and Ken Anderson captured the men's open doubles crown with a 7-6, 6-7, 6-4 win over Howard Dick and Steve Jones.

The final event, mixed doubles, was won by Dahnke and Margie Smith as they defeated Kim Anderson and Tyson Middleton 6-3, 6-3.

The tournament attracted 32 players and raised seven hundred dollars for cancer research.

Vandeven, Elfrink win horseshoe event

Irv Vandeven and Tyler Elfrink won the Southeast Missouri Horseshoe Association event Sunday at the Knights of Columbus in Jackson.

The team of Dylan Elfrink and John Vandeven placed second.

In events played the previous week, Vandeven teamed with Bob Burnett to win at Scott City Park, while Danny Williams and Martin Williams finished first at the Backyard Horseshoe Club in Glenallen, Mo.
