Ungers, Roes team up to win couples scramble
Mark and Becky Unger and Scott and Kristen Roe captured the championship of the Memorial Day Couples Scramble on Monday at Dalhousie Golf Club.
The team of Tim and Jennifer Coad and Jack and Cathy Connell finished second.
Mark and Christy McDowell, Tim Billings and Lisa Dost won the AA flight. The Dombrowskis -- Cord, Ann, Aaron and Laura -- finished second.
Neil Prater won the long drive. Winners of the longest putt contests were Kim Swartz on No. 18, Gary Squires on No. 5, Patty Ralph on No. 8, Aaron Dombrowski on No. 11 and Kim Swartz on No. 13.
Club president nets share of a victory
Gerald Jones, the club president at Cape Girardeau Country Club, was part of the winnig foursome at the Memorial Day Shamble tournament on Monday at the club. Jones teamed with Kerri Jones, Mark Kneer and Mary Kay Poljan to win the championship flight net.
Ronn Unterreiner, Robyn Young, E. Ross Young and Dan Byrd won the championship flight gross.
In the A flight, Jerry and Brenda Vandenbrook and Lee and Catherine Weed teamed up to win the gross, while Tony and Janet Vernon and Joel and Pat Ray won the net.
Asher triumphs in MGA Quota Tournament
Ken Asher scored a plus-2 to win the Dalhousie Golf Club's Men's Golf Association Individual Quota Tournament on Saturday.
Golfers earned points rather than played against par and handicaps were used as a factor in the scoring.
Tied for second at plus-1 were Greg Howard, Mark Unger, Rob Mitchell and Forrest Kidd.
Three players were tied for sixth at minus-1: Mark McDowell, Tom Hamilton and Terry Begley.
