Pro wrestling card slated for Saturday

Gateway Championship Wrestl-ing returns to the A.C. Brase Arena Building in Cape Girardeau with "Wrestling Mayhem" on Saturday night.

Doors open at 7 p.m., and the eight-match card begins at 8.

The featured match is Kory Twist against Chaz Wasson.

Also on the card, Trainee 14 (Julia McCoy of Jackson) will become the first female wrestler to take part in a GCW Hair vs. Hair match when she takes on Sean Vincent.

Gone fishin' at Capaha Park

The 15th annual Youth Catch and Release Fishing Day will be 8:30 a.m.-noon Saturday at the Capaha Park pond. Children 15 and under are invited to bring their poles and bait.

Angle wins Chip-A-Ways event

Lil Angle won the Chip-A-Ways' weekly event played at Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course.

Mary Van Cleve finished atop 'B' flight, while Carol Brown posted the low-putt total. Sharon Dow won the play of the day.

Jones earns medalist honor in women's league

Marlena Jones earned medalist at the Women's Golf Association competition this week at the Cape Girardeau Country Club.

Mary Sue Layton and Keiko Fujiwara tied for first.
