Perryville captures dartball tournament title
Perryville captured the Cape-Perry Lutheran Laymen's League of Dartball tournament championship on Tuesday night.
Crosstown finished second, Altenburg Immanuel was third and New Wells finished fourth.
Perryville was shut out of the individual awards. Tim Mueller of Altenburg Trinity won the RBI trophy with 13 RBIs in the 11 tournament games. Jim Rohde of regular-season champion Friedheim won the batting title trophy with a .520 average, and Royal Petzoldt of New Wells won the slugging trophy title with a percentage of 1.000.
Five Level 5 gymnasts from Heartland Gymnastics posted scores of 31.0 or better in the all-around at the Big Bird Invitational to qualify for the Missouri state championships.
The invitational took place recently at Southeast Missouri State.
Cassie Hindman was second all-around with a 35.972. She was second on the uneven bars, second on the balance beam, third on the floor exercise and sixth in the vault.
Alyssa Garner was third in the all-around with a 36.125. She was first on the bars, second on the floor, third on the vault and third on the beam.
Alexia Phillips was fifth in the all-around in 35.175 with fourth-place finishes on the bars and beam and fifth-place showings on the vault and floor.
Karsen Powers was sixth all-around at 34.95. She was third in the vault and sixth in the bars, beam and floor.
Hannah Litwicki finished seventh in 34.675. She was fifth in the bars, sixth in the vault and seventh in the beam and floor.
