New Salem rolls to pair of wins
New Salem Baptist opened its basketball season on the road at Cornerstone Christian School and came away with a clean sweep.
New Salem's girls cruised 62-37, while the boys routed Cornerstone 91-32. For the New Salem girls, Sarah Green posted a career high of 27 points to lead the way. Laura Poole added 14.
For the New Salem boys, seven players scored in double figures, led by Andrew Yount's 18. Andrew Conway added 16 and Johnathan Davault had 15.
Central 8th Grade girls lose
Central dropped to 1-4 with a close 47-42 loss to Egyptian (Ill.).
Courtney Schuessler scored 17 points to lead the way. Bailey Rust added 12.
Central's B team won big 45-12. Seven players reached the scoring column.
