Southeast volleyball player wins OVC award

Southeast Missouri State University sophomore Jill Miller is the Ohio Valley Conference defensive player of the week for volleyball.

Miller had a career-high 28 digs in a win over Eastern Kentucky, then added 15 digs during a victory over first-place Morehead State.

The Otahkians (11-16, 10-4) have won six straight matches and are tied for second in the OVC.

Former Jackson resident takes new job in Illinois

Matt Wilson, formerly of Jackson, is the new assistant general manager for the Cook County Cheetahs, a Frontier League baseball team in Crestwood, Ill.

Wilson was the director of ticket sales with the Gateway Grizzlies. He joined the team before the 2002 season and was promoted to director of ticket sales before the 2003 season.
