Kluesners end up on top in horseshoes

Jake Kluesner concluded the Southeast Missouri Horseshoes Association sesaon with the most points earned, but second-place Kory Kluesner was part of the winning team in the association's Tournament of Champions on Oct. 2 at the Backyard Horseshoe Club in Glenallen, Mo.

Kory Kluesner teamed with Ron LeGrand for first place in the 16-team season-ending tournament.

Randy Grady and Sheila LeGrand finished second, while Perry Seyes and Martin Williams placed third.

Following Jake Kluesner and Kory Kluesner in the season-long points race was Cori Stoverink in third place.

The association also inducted Edgar Stoverink of Leopold, Mo., into its Hall of Fame.

John Vandeven was named the most improved player.

Stupples Cup today at Dalhousie Golf Club

About 40 golfers are expected to participate today in the annual Stupples Cup women's tournament at Dalhousie Golf Club.

The tournament pits teams of three amateurs and one professional in an 18-hole, handicapped, best-two-ball competition. Teams from St. Louis, Jefferson City, Mo., and Carbondale, Ill., are scheduled to be in the field.

Dalhousie touring pro Karen Stupples, an LPGA Tour regular, will attend the tournament and give a clinic prior to the 1 p.m. shotgun start.

Jackson to host alumni basketball game

Jackson High School will have an alumni basketball game on Nov. 19, preceding the boys varsity basketball team's Red and White scrimmage.
