Plaza Tire Capahas camp: The Plaza Tire Capahas summer baseball team will have a camp Monday and Tuesday for boys and girls ages 8-17. Sessions will be 8 a.m.-noon both days at Capaha Field. Lunch will be served noon Tuesday with parents invited to attend. Instructors include Capahas manager Jess Bolen and his players, Southeast Missouri State University coaches and local high school coaches as well as staff and trainers from St. Francis Medical Center and Southeast Hospital. Jackson camps: The Jackson Indian basketball camps will offer multiple sessions June 21-25. Individual camps for grades 3-4 (9-11 a.m.), 5-6 (noon-2 p.m.) and 7-8 (2-4 p.m.) all will take place at the multipurpose gym. A pee-wee camp for grades 1-2 will be 10 a.m.-noon June 28-July 2 at South Elementary, and a shooting camp for grades 4-7 will be 9 a.m.-noon July 19-23 at the multipurpose gym. Girls camp: Central High School's girls basketball camps are June 15-18 and June 21-24 with sessions for grades 4-6 (9-11 a.m.), grades 7-8 (8-10 a.m.) and grades 9-12 (10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.). Info: 335-8467.
Tigers basketball camp: Central High School will host several boys basketball camps in July for those entering grades 3-9 as well as a Little Dribblers camp for boys and girls entering grades 1-3. Central summer camps: Central High School will offer three camps: team camps, Monday through Wednesday and July 26-29, with 6-8 p.m. sessions at the high school for athletes entering grades 9-12 who plan to play football ($10 fee for each); June 28-July 1 Tiger Football School, 9-11 a.m. sessions at the junior high for athletes in grades 5-8 ($15 fee). Triple Crown scramble: The Cape Girardeau Country Club will host the first Triple Crown three-person scramble Saturday and Sunday. The event includes an optional practice round Friday and 36 holes of tournament golf with shotgun starts 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Lunch and post-tournament pool party Saturday. Southeast summer camps: Southeast Missouri State University summer sports camps begin in June, with coaches and athletes instructing. Some of the camps are for individuals and some are for teams. Trail run and walk: The Chaffee Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the ninth annual Tywappity Trails 5-kilometer trail run and fitness walk on Saturday. The event begins at 9 a.m. All participants receive T-shirts; awards are given to top three male and female finishers in each of seven age groups. Challenger camp: The Challenger British Soccer Camp is scheduled for June 28-July 2 at Jackson City Park soccer field No. 1. The camp includes 1 1/2-hour sessions for novice players and three-hour sessions for recreational and competitive players. The staff also will offer a free coaching clinic for parents and coaches. JHS youth camp: The Jackson High School Youth Soccer Camp is open to all youths entering grades 1-8. Hershey meet: The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department will offer the 15th annual Hershey Track and Field Local Meet 9 a.m. June 12 at the Central Junior High School track. Open to boys and girls ages 9-14; $2 entry fee. Six running events, two field events and one relay. Central wresting camp: The Cape Central Tiger wrestling little league camp will be Tuesday through June 10 and is open to those entering grades 1-7.
