The Mets and Angles will meet in the winner's bracket final on Saturday after picking up victories last weekend in the 15-18 SEMO Fall League Baseball Tournament in Jackson.

The Angels edged the Orioles 5-4 in nine innings with Andrew Deere getting the win in relief. Caleb Daughhetee had two hits for the Angels, while Trevor Irwin and Josh Taylor had two apiece for the Orioles.

The Mets blanked the Rockies 14-0 behind the shutout pitching of Sam Sander. Cory Chamberlain had two hits for Mets, while Josh Jackson had a pair for the Rockies.

The Orioles later eliminated the Dodgers 11-2 behind the pitching of Taylor. Taylor and Lance Young led the way with three hits apiece. Rusty Hendricks had three hits for the Dodgers.

Earlier, the Rockies had edged the Dodgers 5-4 with Zach Secoy getting the victory. Matt Stoverink, Secoy and Caleb Hatton each had two hits for the Rockies. Jacoby May had two hits for the Dodgers.

On Saturday at Jackson Legion Field, the Rockies and Orioles will meet at 10 a.m. in an elimination game. The winner will face the Mets-Angels (12:15 p.m.) loser at 2:30. The tournament championship will be played at 4:45 p.m., with an if-needed championship game at 7.

SEMO Judo Club

competes in event

The SEMO Kodokan Judo Club, a recreation sport club at the Southeast Missouri State University, attended a regional tournament at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale on Saturday.

Cory Shulz placed first in a 170 to 190 pound novice division and Andy Dodd placed third in a senior weight class.

The club has been active for several years. Workout times for interested students, staff and their children are Sundays and Wednesdays at 6 p.m., and Tuesdays at noon at the Student Recreation Center South.

The club is coached by Randy Rhodes, second degree black belt and criminal justice adjunct instructor; Crystal Pierce (undergrad), black belt and internationally certified referee; and Andy Dodd (student), black belt and certified referee.
