Carly Smith, a recent graduate of Meadow Heights High School and a 99th-place finisher last fall at the Missouri Class 1 cross country meet, competed in the International Sports Specialist Inc. Down Under International Games in Australia.
Smith ran in two meets while in Australia, finishing 24th in one and 21st in another with fields of approximately 100 runners.
Her trip also included stops in Los Angeles, Honolulu and Pearl Harbor, and Sydney.
Dick Davis hit his second hole in one of July on Sunday while becoming the first golfer to ace the redesigned eighth hole at Kimbeland Country Club.
Davis aced the eighth, a 185-yard, par-3 hole, with a 7-wood. The redesigned hole opened for play on Memorial Day weekend.
The hole in one was the fifth of Davis' career.
Witnesses were Bill Boren, Brett McDowell and Rich Baker.
Jason Delgado scored his first hole in one on Thursday at Cape Girardeau Country Club. He aced the sixth, a 150-yard, par-3 hole, with a 7-iron.
Delgado, 17, attends Notre Dame High School.
Witnesses were Brandon Holzum and Cory Welker.
Kathy Morris, Dana Underwood and Janet White teamed up for a first-place finish Wednesday in Cape Girardeau Country Club Wednesday Night Twilight Golf action.
Robyn Young and Phyllis Seabaugh made up the second-place team, while third place went to Judi Brey, Deb Mealy and Joyce Kuntze.
Kathy Morris was the medalist Thursday in Cape Girardeau Country Club Ladies Day golf action.
Judi Brey placed first in the play of the day, which was "low putts." Vicki McKinney finished second.
The Central boys soccer team will have a meeting for parents at 6 p.m. Sunday at the high school.
Parents should bring proof of insurance and physicals for their student-athletes. Practice will begin on Monday, with freshman and sophomores at 6 a.m. and juniors and seniors at 7 a.m.
