Wrestling returns to Cape Girardeau
Gateway Championship Wrestling has an eight-match card set for 8 tonight at the Cape Girardeau National Guard Armory, at 2626 Independence.
The card features two title matches, including heavyweight champ Kory Twist taking on Adam Raw and light heavyweight champ Dingo facing Jackal.
An intergender match pits Cape Girardeau's Rebecca Raze against European Legend Pierre.
Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for children 12 and under.
A memorial dedication and softball tournament in tribute to Cary Flanagan, the area's Amateur Softball Association District Commissioner for a decade, is scheduled for Aug. 20 at the Shawnee Park Sports Complex.
A formal dedication ceremony will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. with the tournament to follow.
The event will be hosted by the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department, the Cape Girardeau Parks Development Foundation, the Missouri Amateur Softball Association and the SEMO Fast Pitch Association.
The softball tournament still is accepting teams -- the entry fee is $100 -- and will offer coed and men's divisions. Memorial T-shirts will be provided for players, and teams could win cash prizes for the top two places in each division.
Contributions are being accepted by the Cary Flanagan Memorial Fund for a plaque to be placed at Shawnee Sports Complex Concession Pavilion. For information on the tournament or the memorial fund, call Scott Williams or Kaed Horrell, 335-5421.

She used a 6-iron for the 122-yard, par-3 hole.
