Talley-Mele win tourney in playoff

Bob Talley and Tyson Mele won a playoff against the team of Tom Hamilton and Jack Smith to win the Championship Flight in the Cape Girardeau Country Club Member-Member Tournament held Aug. 24-25.

Both teams tied with a score of 138 before Talley and Mele won on a playoff hole.

Spencer Hogan and David Prince shot 141 to finish third. Bard Womack and David Robers were fourth, also with 141.

Placing first in A Flight was Tim Kelley and Butch Smiley (140), followed by Mark Kneer and Bud Hunt (141), Mark Moore and David Johnson (144), and Ron Kirby and Stan Irwin (145).

Placing first in B Flight were Ross Bennett and Matt Gaeta (147), followed by Mike Bennett and Al Whorton (149), Tom Benton and Mike Bies (135), and Mike Slye and Steve Buckingham (153).

Tourney winners

* Ian Soutar, Corrine Soutar, Rob Younghouse and Laura Younghouse teamed up to win the Labor Day Couples 4-person scramble Monday at Dalhouse Golf Club with a 62.

* Carolyn Blechle, JoEllen Haas and Sharon Dow teamed up to win the Three Lady Scramble for the Chip A Ways at Cape Jaycees Golf Club.

* Christi Lind was the medalist and Sharon Dow won the B Flight on Tuesday for the Chip A Ways at Cape Jaycees Golf Club. Debbie Gahan won Play of the Day, while Dottie Gill won Lowest Putts.
