Puxico native Jim Bain, who began his officiating career in Southeast Missouri, will be inducted today into the FIBA Hall of Fame in Istanbul, Turkey.

Bain officiated in the Missouri Valley Conference, Big Ten Conference and worked 18 NCAA tournaments from 1971 to 1990. He served as supervisor of officials and coordinator of men's basketball officials at the Missouri Valley Conference from 1991 to 2009.

Simmons team wins tournament

The team of David Simmons, Steve Kinder, Bob Fox and Shannon Kirchoff shot a 60 to win the SEMO Dental Society's golf tournament at Dalhousie Golf Club.

The team of Justin Yeluerton, Mark Milde, Jim Fox and Pat Ruopp shot a 64, while the team of Mike Bennett, Ron Lessman, Ed Kressin and T. Wayne Lewis shot a 65.

Miller, Jackson team for victory

The team of Jeff Miller and Dianne Jackson won the SEMO Horseshoe Association's tournament at the Benton Neighbor Day.

The team of Tod Brucker and Karen Barks took second, while Beaver Glastetter and Joe Schwartz were third in the 22-team event.

Young captures club title

Robyn Young was crowned the Cape Girardeau Country Club's Women's Golf Association's champion for the year.

Joyce Kuntze won the championship flight, while Beth Mapes and Claire Kneer tied for first in A flight.

Deb Mealy took first and Betty Michel second in B flight. Irene Thomas won C flight, while Shirley Moore was second.
