Brown places first at Crank Fest

Brad Brown of Team Cyclewerx placed first in the marathon class at the Crank Fest Mountain Bike race Sunday at Klaus Park in Jackson. Brown raced 38 miles in 3 hours, 15 minutes.

Casey Saunders of Southeast Missouri State University placed second in the age 29-and-up division of sport class. Ryan Winkler of Team Cyclewerx placed second in the age 30-to-39 division of Sport class, while Travis Thrower of Team Cyclewerx finished third in expert class.

Bennett fires his first hole-in-one at Cape C.C.

Mike Bennett fired his first career hole-in-one Sunday at Cape Girardeau Country Club.

Bennett used a 5-iron to ace No. 2, a par 3 playing 190 yards. Witnesses were Kevin Files, Russ Mothershead and Ed Lampitt.

Burnett aces hole at Kimbeland C.C.

Jimmy Burnett of Jackson carded his second career hole-in-one recently at Kimbeland Country Club.

Burnett used a wedge to ace No. 4, a par 3 playing 139 yards. Witnesses were Rich Gross, Bob Wittenborn and Bill Gosche.

Thomas wins senior tourney at Dalhousie

Tommy Thomas emerged as the grand champion at the 36-hole senior tournament at Dalhousie Golf Club.

Thomas had a gross total of 68-70--138 to win in the 65-and-over division and post a two-shot victory over Ben Cantrell (71-69--140) in the overall competition.

Cantrell had the low gross in the 50 to 54 division, while Bobe Gile had the low net at 79-74--153.

In the 55 to 59 division, Ken Swinford posted the low gross of 79-78--157. Jay Sheets had the low net of 75-75--150.

In 60 to 64, Bill Morgan posted the low gross of 81-81--162. The low net of 78-70--148 belonged to Bill Bishop.

George Landre had the low-net total in 65 and over with a 79-74--153.
