Southeast tennis adds signee
Southeast Missouri State tennis coach Mark Elliott has completed his recruiting class for next season by signing a state champion from Washington.
Nikole Novikova is ranked ninth in the Pacific Northwest and 230th nationally in singles and doubles combined. She will be the highest ranked American high school tennis player to compete at Southeast.
Novikova went 22-0 in singles and captured a state title in 2006 at Bellevue High School in Washington. She was also a state qualifier in 2008, a season that was hampered by a shoulder injury that forced her to miss her entire senior campaign last year.
Jones sinks hole in one
Marlena Jones recorded a hole in one Thursday at Cape Girardeau Country Club.
Jones, playing with Judi Brey, aced No. 16, a par-3, 165-yard hole.
Moore, Michel grab title
The team of Shirley Moore and Betty Michel took first place in the Cape Girardeau Country Club's Women's Golf Association's weekly outing, a two-person scramble.
The team of Mary Sue Layton and Linda Tewis tied the team of Lisa Bjelich and Irene Thomas for second place.
