Stoverink, Turner team for win

The team of Edgar Stoverink and Melissa Turner won the SEMO Horseshoe Association's tournament at the Scott City Knights of Columbus.

The team of Jerome Backfisch and Joe Bean took second, while the team of Larry Glastetter and Randy Senciboy was third in the nine-team tournament.

The team of Randy Grady and Cori Stoverink won the tournament at the Jackson Knights of Columbus, a 12-team tournament.

The team of Bob Burnett and Lachelle Cook placed second, while Edgar Stoverink and Dawn Morrow took third.

Hogan team wins title

The team of Nick Hogan, Pate Hogan, Hariette Myers and Diane Fowler teamed to shoot a 193 and win the member-member member-guest tournament at Dalhousie Golf Club.

The team of Gary Seymour, Marty Seymour, Arch Kohl and Nancy Kohl shot a 194 for second, while the team of Ed Schuessler, Cindy Schuessler, Kirk Sanders and Nikki Sanders shot a 203 for third.

The tournament used a shamble (2) net format the first day and shamble 1 ball format the second.

Cox wins category at road race

Josh Cox, riding for the Cyclewerx bicycle team, won the men's category 4/5 road race at the Tour de Ste. Genevieve on Sunday.

Cyclewerx rider Josh Johnson took second in the juniors road race.

Morris team captures first

The team of Kathy Morris, Lisa Bjelich, Donna Hand and Cheryl Stillwell shot a 61 to win the Cape Girardeau Country Club's Women's Golf Association's Rally for the Cure golf event Saturday.

Eight teams participated in the tournament.

Oran graduate earns all-region honors

Jodi Urhahn, an Oran High School graduate, was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's All-Midwest Region first team.

Urhahn plays third base at Lindenwood University. She started 36 games and batted .387 with 15 RBIs and 18 runs scored. She recorded at least two hits in 13 games for the Lions.
