Jackson defeats Poplar Bluff in JV soccer opener

Jackson disposed of Poplar Bluff 10-0 Friday in the semifinals of the Jackson junior varsity soccer tournament.

In the other semifinal, Central defeated St. Vincent 2-0. The championship game was moved to today due to rain. Jackson and Central will face off at noon.

Tewis medals at Country Club women's event

Linda Tewis was medalist in the Cape Girardeau Country Club women's event, where play of the day was "odd holes."

Leslie Steele was first, and Sarah Cochrane was second. Dana Underwood and Keiko Fujiwara tied for third.
