Illinois competitors lead ATPR feature finishes
BENTON, Mo. -- Joe Morris of Galatia, Ill., won for the second week in a row when he led Saturday's 10-car UMP late model feature race at Auto Tire and Parts Racepark. Billy James of Sikeston was second.
Defending sprint division champion Robbie Standridge of Springfield, Ill., edged Jerrod Hull of Sikeston by less than a car length to win the sprint feature.
Gary Jarvis of West Frankfort, Ill., won in the UMP modified class. Mark Ford of DuQuoin, Ill., was second.
Greg Casey of Bertrand, Mo., led Jeff Beeson of Benton in pure stocks, and Josh Southard and Shawn Koenig of Jackson led Dana Rowland and Joan Mayberry of Jackson in the cruiser class.
Stoverink, Burnett win in SEMO horseshoe opener
BENTON, Mo. -- Cori Stoverink and Bob Burnett teamed to win the opening event for the Southeast Missouri Horseshoe Association at the American Legion in Benton.
Rose Kern and Jason Raines were second among 17 teams. Tyler Elfrink and Junior Smith finished third.
Cape Girardeau racer tops super pro event
SIKESTON, Mo. -- Ron Simmons of Cape Girardeau finished in 113.66 mph to win the super pro class event Saturday at the Sikeston Drag Strip.
Simmons had a 6.05-second dial and a 6.043-second time. Linden Hills of Fremont, Mo., was second.
Blake Jones of Caledonia, Mo., ran 104.11 mph on a 6.51 dial and 6.518 ET to win in the pro division. Gary Doom of Smithland, Ky., was second.
Floyd Foreman of Sikeston won in the ET class, finishing in 77.45 mph on a 8.75 dial and 8.778 ET. David Leonard of Sikeston was second.
The track will hos the outlaw pro mods Saturday.
Jackson golfer cards hole in one at Kimbeland
Jim Evans of Jackson carded a hole in one over the weekend in a two-man scramble at Kimbeland Country Club.
Evans used an 8-iron to ace No. 6, a par 3 playing 140 yards. Witnesses were Don Norman, Ron Cook and Scott Fallert.
