Kinder wins Junior Series golf event

Luke Kinder beat Bryan Whitson in a playoff to win the 16-19-year-old Tour Division at the recent Gateway Jr. Series golf event at Cape Girardeau Country Club.

Kinder and Whitson both shot scores of 39 over nine holes.

Caleb Hightower, Nick Woolard and Kyle Sutton all came in at 40 to tie for third place.

Jonathan Bell shot a 42 to win the 14-15 Tour Division.

Sarah Bell's 38 beat out Samantha Hightower's 41 in the girls Tour Division.

LeGrand, Schaeffer win horseshoe event

Ron LeGrand and Jeff Schaeffer won the recent SEMO Horseshoe Association competition at the Oran Jaycees.

Joe Bean and Lester Powell finished second.

Carolyn Schreckenberg and Tyler Elfrink prevailed in the recent competition at the Jackson Knights of Columbus.

Lachelle Cook and Joe Keller placed second.
