Cape Girardeau's Kent Phillips recently fired his second career hole in one.

Phillips, a former golfer at Central High School and Southeast Missouri State, aced the 195-yard No. 15 hole at Bent Creek using a 6-iron.

Playing along with Phillips were Todd Obergoenner, Mark Schmitz and Jeff Beck.

Vickery aces hole at Kimbeland

Bill Vickery of Cape Girardeau carded his first hole in one recently at Kimbeland Country Club.

Vickery used a 7-iron to ace No. 18, a par 3 playing 156 yards.

Witnesses were Blake Esicar, Kenny Kirk and Bob Templeton.

The Cape Girardeau American Legion junior team split two games Friday in the Eureka Mid Summer Bash in St. Louis.

Cape (18-12) beat Kirksville 15-5. Andrew Williams was the winning pitcher. He also had three hits and three RBIs, while Brandon Peters and Jacob Conklin both added two hits.

Festus then beat Cape 11-8. Williams and Josh Hiett each had three hits and two RBIs. Sam Schneider added two hits. Josh Meyer suffered the loss.

Jackson Senior Babe Ruth sweeps pair

The Jackson Senior Babe Ruth team posted two run-rule victories over Matthews on Wednesday.

Jackson (13-7) won 17-1 in five innings, then went on to a 12-2 victory in six innings.

Aaron Horrell pitched a no-hitter in the nightcap, while Garrett Fritsche allowed just four hits in the opener.

Bryant Steffens had three hits in the first game and Adam Urhahn and Ben Rhodes added two apiece. Horrell collected three hits in the second game and Ryan Bass added two.
