Southeast's McDonald honored
Southeast Missouri State senior softball player Megan McDonald has been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII first team for her achievements on the field and in the classroom.
McDonald, a Cape Girardeau Central High School graduate, carries a 3.62 grade-point average in speech pathology. She was earlier this week named first team all-Ohio Valley Conference for the third time in her career.
McDonald led the Redhawks and finished second in the OVC with a .406 batting average. She ranks high in many of the program's single-season and career statistical categories.
Academically, McDonald is a two-time member of the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll and a recipient of the OVC's highest academic award, the OVC Medal of Honor. She is also a four-time Southeast Scholar-Athlete honoree.
McDonald is one of only three OVC softball players to make the Academic All-District first team.
