Higgins fires ace at Bent Creek

Ray Higgins carded a hole in one at Bent Creek Golf Course in Jackson.

Higgins used an 8-wood to ace No. 8, a par 3 playing 140 yards. Witnesses were Stanley Richardson and Charlie Seabaugh.

Hohler cards aceat Kimbeland C.C.

David Hohler of Cape Girardeau made his second career hole in one Tuesday at Kimbeland Country Club in Jackson.

Hohler aced No. 4, a par 3 playing 134 yards, with a 7-iron. Witnesses were Gary Riggins, Sam McCune and Jim Jones.

The Fitness Plus Masters swim team won 12 events at meets in St. Louis and Belleville, Ill., recently.

Brigitte Kinnaman won the 50-meter freestyle, 400 freestyle, 50 backstroke, 50 breaststroke and 50 butterfly in the 25 to 29 age division in St. Louis. Jeff Harms won the 200 freestyle, took second in the 50 freestyle and third in the 100 freestyle in St. Louis.

Kinnaman took first in the 50-yard freestyle, 500 freestyle, 50 breaststroke and 100 breaststroke in Belleville. Marci Kester won the 50 freestyle and 50 breaststroke in the 18 to 24 age division at Belleville.

Langenfeld completes Chicago marathon

Cape Girardeau's Lisa Langenfeld finished the Chicago marathon in 4 hours, 42 minutes on Sunday.

It was the first marathon for the 19-year old Langenfeld.
