Dalhousie winssenior challenge
The Dalhousie Golf Club claimed the Senior Challenge Cup with a 12-8 victory over the Country Club of Paducah.
Dalhousie, the host, won all three formats Sunday in the 27-hole competition. Dalhousie won 3-2 in Four-Ball and 3 1/2-1 1/2 in Chapman. Both formats consisted of five two-man teams. Dalhousie clinched the victory with a 5 1/2-4 1/2 edge in singles Match Play.
Dalhousie team members were Ben Cantrell, Ken Swinford, Cord Dombrowski, David Strom, Greg Howard, Forrest Kidd, Bill Bishop, Terry Farrow, Pat Godwin and Tom Owens.
Large field competesin NASV scramble
More than 180 players and 46 teams participated in the Network Against Sexual Violence 4-person scramble at Dalhousie Golf Club on Monday.
The scramble was divided into an a.m. field and a p.m. field. In the P.M. field, the team of Mike Zahner, Dan Hotop, Gabe Hotop and Mike Flaker shot a 57 to win the championship flight. Gabe Hotop hit a hole in one on No. 8 from 165 yards out with an 8-iron.
Britt McConnell, Blake Pearson, Coleen Pearson and Chance Huter were second with a 59.
Wade Pierce, Devin Kirby, Bill Clarkson and John Shock won the 'A' flight with a 65. Jim Crawford, Bill Reno, Mike Bernard and Randy Woodard also shot a 65 for second.
Closest to the pin winners were David Cantrell (No. 5), Gabe Hotop (No. 8), Jason Owen (No. 11) and Roger Tolliver (No. 13).
In the a.m. session, the team of Ernie Gwaltney, Bart Gwaltney, Ron Hickman and Doug Stacett shot 62 to win the championship flight. Bob Hedden, Ray Wilhelm, Clint Ruppel and Lloyd Hitt were second with a 64.
Chris McGowan, Jim Champine, Tim Judd and John Kraemer shot a 71 to win the 'A' flight.
Closest to the pin winners were Hitt (No. 5), Hickman (No. 8 and No. 11) and Barb Johnson (No. 13).
Keys earns trip to bowling nationals
Tyler Keys, 16 of Jackson, earned a trip to the Teen Masters national championship bowling tournament.
Keys won a tournament in Conway, Ark., last weekend to capture a berth in the national tournament.
He tied for 86th in the first round then took 114th in the second round at the national tournament last year, held in Orlando, Fla.
This year's Teen Masters tournament will be held in Las Vegas at the end of July.
