Team of Belote, Barnard, McKinnis, Long take win
The team of Betty Belote, Cindy Barnard, Sandy McKinnis and Vicki Long won the championship flight of the Dalhousie Four-Lady Scramble on Tuesday at Dalhousie Golf Club.
The four shot a 61, two strokes ahead of Brenda Rendelman, Chris Fisher, Sarah Haas and Tara Steinacher.
Three teams tied for the win in flight AA after each shot 70, and two teams tied in flight A with 74 each. There was a two-team tie in flight B after both teams shot 77.
One hundred golfers participated in the one-day event.
Capahas final home game vs. Sox canceled
The Craftsman Union Capahas' final regular-season game Tuesday night was canceled after the St. Louis Sox, who were scheduled to visit Capaha Field, could not field enough players.
The Capahas (32-6) will next play Saturday against Pueblo, Colo. (37-6), in the first round of the National Baseball Congress World Series in Wichita, Kan. The game time has not been set.
Jackson graduate signs letter to play baseball
Josh Parham, a 2002 Jackson High School graduate,has signed a letter of intent to play baseball for Fort Scott Community College in Kansas.
Parham, a left-hander who will pitch for Fort Scott, attended Southeast Missouri State University in the 2002-2003 school year but did not play baseball while he rehabilitated an injured shoulder.
