Capahas split two to Evansville, Louisville
MOUNT CARMEL, Ill. -- The Craftsman Union Capahas split a pair of games Sunday to out-of-state teams.
The Capahas (29-5) defeated Louisville (Ky.) 5-3 in the opener and lost 8-3 to Evansville (Ind.) in the late game.
In the first, Josh Eftink hit a three-run home run in the first inning to push the Capahas ahead to stay. Eftink finished 2-for-3, and Lance Seasor was 3-for-4. Jason Chavez pitched all seven innings with five strikeouts and nine hits for the win.
Evansville scored three runs in the sixth to pull away in the second game. Tom Cigno was 2-for-3 for the Capahas. Matt Stroup gave up 11 hits in seven innings for the loss.
Standridge wins fifth sprint feature at ATPR
BENTON, Mo. -- Robbie Standridge of Springfield, Ill., won his fifth straight sprint feature race late Saturday at Auto Tire and Parts Racepark.
Lowe Cannell of Fulton, Mo., was second, and Shawn King of Cape Girardeau was third.
Brent Thompson of Ste. Genevieve, Mo., won in modifieds over Chris Hall of Sikeston.
Dietrich Bollinger of Benton defeated Cline Myers Jr. of Scott City to win in pure stocks.
Wayne Bartels and Jeff Trankler won in the cruiser class.
