Baseball

* Cardinals trip: The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor a trip to the St. Louis Cardinals game against the Houston Astros on Aug. 2 at 1:15 p.m. The seats are in the pavilion reserved section. Basketball

* Jackson boys camps: Jackson will host boys basketball camps at the high school. A little dribblers camp for players in grades kindergarten through 2 will be Aug. 3 to 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. Cost: $40 if preregistered, $45 at the door. Individual workouts also will be available with the Jackson coaching staff and focus on shooting fundamentals, post moves and ball handling. Cross country

* Jackson camps: Jackson will host a cross country camp for boys and girls entering grades 6 to 12 at the pavilion near the swimming pool in Jackson City Park. The camp will be July 27 to 31. The camp is free. Info: Andrea Talley, 275-0976.

Football

* Central camp: Central coach Rich Payne will host a free camp at the high school for players in grades nine to 12 from July 27 to 31. It will run from 6 to 8:30 p.m. each day. Info: payner@capetigers.com.

* <B>Central junior high camp: Central Junior High School will host a free camp July 27 to 30 at the junior high. The camp is for players in grades seven and eight and will run from 9 to 11 a.m.

n Youth flag football league: The Upward flag football and cheerleading sign-ups will continue through July 25. The league is open to boys and girls in grades kindergarten through six. All participants must attend the football evaluation and cheerleader orientation from 9 to 11 a.m. July 25 at Lynnwood Baptist Church. Cost: $65 per child. Info: Cape Bible Chapel, 334-5948.

Running

n Jackson Homecomer: The Jackson Homecomer 5K will take place Tuesday at 7 p.m. The 1-mile youth race will begin at 6:30 p.m. The races will start at the American Legion baseball field at the corner of Washington and Union streets. Soccer

n Southeast Missouri State camps: Southeast Missouri State's soccer staff will host camps for boys and girls ages 6 to 13. n Fall sign-ups: The Cape Area Youth Soccer Association will hold fall registration Sunday and July 26 at Kick's Soccer Shop in West Park Mall. Cost: $20 for pre-kindergarten players; $35 for players in grades one to eight.

n Jackson sign-ups: The JAOSA will hold fall registration at Nearly Perfect Shoes in Jackson today from 9 a.m. to noon, Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and July 25 from 9 a.m. to noon. Players must be 4 years old on or before Aug. 1 to play in the pre-kindergarten division. Divisions range from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade for boys and girls. The season begins Aug. 29. Softball

n <B>Special Olympics tournament: The Southeast Area Special Olympics will host the 12th annual Special Olympics district tournament today at Shawnee Park Sports Complex. Swimming

* Open swim: There will be a 1-mile open-water swim Aug. 8 at Lake Boutin in Trail of Tears State Park. The race will begin at 11 a.m. with a run-in start and it will be a two-loop course marked with buoys and lifeguards will be on duty. There will be chip timing. Tennis

* Social doubles: Doubles players are invited to play socially Saturday mornings at the Southeast Missouri State University tennis facility. Play begins at 8 a.m. There is no cost and players of all abilities are invited.

* Juniors tournament and league: There will be a juniors league Saturday mornings at Central High School. Any player age 10 to 18 who can serve, rally and score is eligible to participate. The league is free and on a drop-in basis. Play will be from 9 to 11 a.m. There also will be a Jammin' Juniors tournament Aug. 1 to 2 at the Southeast Missouri State University tennis facility. There will be boys and girls singles events as well as doubles and mixed doubles. Play begins 8 a.m. Aug. 1. Deadline: July 27. Cost: $20 for singles, $15 per player for doubles. Track and field

Triathlon

* Trail of Tears triathlon: The Trail of Tears triathlon is scheduled for Sept. 12 at Trail of Tears State Park. The course consists of a half-mile swim, 15-mile bike ride and 4-mile run. The race begins at 9 a.m. Cost: $35 for individuals and $40 for teams before Sept. 1; $45 for individuals and $50 for teams after Sept. 1. Non-USAT members must buy a one-day membership for $10.
