Basketball

Elks Hoop Shoot: The Cape Girardeau Elks Lodge will host its annual Hoop Shoot at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Central Junior High School gymnasium. Boys and girls ages 8 to 13 (as of April 1, 2005) are eligible to participate. There is no entry fee. Boys and girls can compete in divisions for ages 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13. Men's league: The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department will offer a men's basketball league, scheduled to start Jan. 5. Registration ends Friday and a manager's meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Osage Community Centre. The league will have five divisions for levels of competition with games played Monday through Thursday nights and on weekends at the A.C. Brase Arena and the Osage Community Centre. Cost is $265 per team due by Friday. Info: 335-5421.

Women's league: The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department is offering a women's basketball league, scheduled to start Jan. 13. The league will consist of one division with games played Thursday evenings at the Osage Community Centre. Cost is $201.60 per team. Registration deadline is Wednesday. Info: Amy Roth at 334-2859.

Softball

Southeast winter clinics: Southeast Missouri State University will hold its annual winter softball clinics in Houck Field House for girls ages 8 through 18. The sessions are: Pitching/Hitting, 1 to 4 p.m. Jan. 15 and Jan. 16; Pitching/Catching/Hitting, 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 5 and Feb. 6; Pitching/Hitting/Defense, 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 12 and 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 13. Volleyball

Coed tournament: The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation's eighth annual Osage Invitational Coed Volleyball Tournament is scheduled for Feb. 13. The event is a 6-on-6 format with three male and three female players on the court at all times. Pool play will be followed by a single-elimination bracket for the top two teams from each pool. Entry fee is $52.50 per team by noon on the registration deadline, Feb. 10. Tournament will be played at the Osage Community Centre with check-in at 9 a.m. and games beginning at 10 a.m. Info: Michelle Fitzgerald, 335-5421.

Fundamentals class: The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department will team up with Southeast Missouri State University's women's volleyball team for the Fundamentals of Volleyball Class 9-11 a.m. Jan. 29 at the Osage Community Centre. The class is open to boys and girls ages 7 to 12. Cost is $10.50 per person. Registration deadline is 5 p.m. Jan. 24.
