Basketball

Grade school tournament: A round-robin basketball tournament for boys teams in third through sixth grades will take place Thursday through Saturday in Chaffee at the high school and the activity center. Hot shot contest: The Cape GIrar-deau Parks and Recreation Department's 17th annual Basketball Hot Shot Contest will be Dec. 4 at the Osage Community Centre. Registration for boys and girls is free with divisions for ages 9 through 12, 13 through 15 and 16 to 18. The competition consists of three one-minute rounds, shooting from five spots on the floor. Men's league: The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department is accepting team registrations through Dec. 12 for the men's basketball league. A managers meeting is planned for 6:30 p.m. Dec. 13 at the Osage Community Centre. League play begins Jan. 4. The league will have five divisions with games played on Monday through Thursday nights, Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons at the OsageCentre and Arena Building. The cost is $278.90 per team. Women's league: The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department is offering a women's basketball league with play beginning Jan. 12. Games will be played on Thursday nights at the Osage Community Centre. The league will have one division. The cost is $211.68 per team, and the registration deadline is Dec. 15. Youth league: Teams are forming for the Girls Youth Basketball League offered by the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department. A rules meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Osage Community Centre. Rosters, waivers and fees are due by Friday. Divisions will be formed for grades 3 and 4, grades 5 and 6, and grades 7 and 8. League play begins Jan. 7 and concludes in mid-March. Info: Amy Roth, 334-2859.

Floor hockey

Youth league: Red Star Baptist Church will offer a floor hockey league for youths in first through sixth grades. The league will begin Dec. 6 and end March 9 and will include instruction in hockey as well as games. Registration will be 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church, located at 1301 N. Running

Toybox run: The Cape Road Runners Toybox one-mile run and walk will be 5 p.m. today in front of the Christmas Parade of Lights. The course begins at Capaha Park and travels east on Broadway to Main Street. Registration, from 4 to 4:30 p.m., is a $10 donation or a new toy. Wrestling

Club registration: The Central USA Wrestling Club will have registration 7 p.m. on Monday at Central High School for the traveling club team. The first practice will be Thursday with subsequent practices on Mondays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The club is open to wrestlers in first through eighth grades. The cost is $40 for a USA card (required) and $15 per tournament entered.
