AREA BRIEFS: WOMEN'S DISTANCE FESTIVAL

Southeast Missouri Hospital's Fitness and Wellness Center will host its 13th annual Women's Distance Festival Sept. 9. The event also includes the 8th annual Kids' Fest.

The event will be held at the Cape LaCroix Recreation Trail located near the Osage Community Centre.

Women's events will begin at 8 a.m. and will include a 1-mile walk, a 3.1-mile walk and a 3.1-mile run. Age groups range from 10 to over 70. Childcare is available during the event.

Registration is $8 before the event and $9 the day of the Festival. Registration fee includes a T-shirt and give-away bag.

The Kids' Fest will include a Toddler Trot for those 2 and under; Mighty Mites, a 50-yard dash for ages 3-4; Speedy Sprinters, a 75-yard dash for ages 5-6; and Radical Runners, a 100-yard dash for ages 7-9.

Children's events begin at 8:45 a.m. Entry fee is $6 with a T-shirt and free without a T-shirt.
