AREA BRIEFS: CAPE CENTRAL SUMMER SPORTS CAMPS

Cape Girardeau Central High School will hold summer camps in a variety of sports. Following is a rundown (for more information on any of the camps, call (573) 335-8467):

Boys Basketball: For boys entering grades 3-9, the camps will run every weekday except Tuesdays from June 7-18. Times will be 9-11:30 a.m. for grades 3-6 1-3:30 p.m. for grades 7-9. The cost is $30. Girls Basketball: For girls entering grades 5-12, the camp will be July 12-16. Times will be 8-10 a.m. for grades 5-8 and 10 a.m.-noon for grades 9-12. The cost is $30. The camp will be conducted by coach Darrick Smith and his staff. For more information, call Smith at (573) 334-4453.

Baseball: There will be three sessions. Camp I (fundamentals) for grades K-9 will be June 14-17. Times will be 9-11:30 a.m. for grades 5-9 and 1-3:30 p.m. for grades K-4. The cost is $40. Camp 2 (hitting) for grades 3-9 will be June 21-23. Times will be 9-11:30 a.m. for grades 3-6 and 1-3:30 p.m. for grades 7-9. The cost is $30. Camp III (pitching and catching) for grades 3-9 will be June 28-30. Times will be 9-11:30 a.m. for grades 3-6 and 1-3:30 p.m. for grades 7-9. The cost is $30. Tennis: For boys and girls entering grades 5-12, the camp will be June 7-11. Times will be 4-5:30 p.m. for grades 5-8 and 5:30-7:30 p.m. for grades 9-12. The cost is $30.

Cross Country: For boys and girls entering grades 9-12, the camp will be June 28-July 2. Times will be 8:30-10:30 a.m. There is no cost.
