Ankiel makes progress in second start

Left-hander Rick Ankiel pitched three innings in his second rehab start Saturday for the Palm Beach Cardinals, St. Louis' Class A affiliate.

Ankiel allowed one run on two hits, with four strikeouts and no walks.

Saturday's start was Ankiel's second since coming off Tommy John surgery last year.

Ankiel's first start on Monday lasted two innings, with the 25-year-old left-hander allowing one run on one hit, with three strikeouts and no walks.
