JEFFERSON CITY -- Scott City's Lance Amick took seventh in the triple jump and Kelly's Nathen King took eighth in the 1,600-meter run to earn all-state honors at the Class 2A championships at Lincoln University Friday.
Those placing in the top eight are named all-state.
Amick's ump of 41 feet, 10 inches was two feet better than any of his jumps this season.
"We didn't even know if he'd get to come with graduation," said Scott City coach Terry Flannigan. "He jumped on a plane to get back for graduation and didn't even pick up his medal."
King ran the mile in 4:38.78. He finished 16th in what was supposed to be his best event -- the 800 -- with a time of 2:10.83. If King would've duplicated his first-place time in Saturday's district (2:00.5), he would've been the state champion.
Scott City's Dana Essner was 10th in the pole vault at 7-0, a personal best.
"That was good for her," Flannigan said. "She's only been vaulting for about a month."
Kelly's Kirk Logan chucked the discus 128-01 for 11th place.
