Advance's volleyball team won for the 20th time this season Monday with a quick 21-13, 25-15 win at home over Central.
Dana Williams had 12 kills, three aces and two blocks for the Hornets, 20-6 and ranked No. 4 in the SEMO Top 10. Nikki Kennedy had five digs and Leslie Rainey added eight assists.
Tasha Valleroy led Central (4-17-7) in assists with five. Chelsea Oliver and Stephanie Clark added five digs apiece and Jessica Johnston had two kills.
Central coach Maile Gannon said she felt her team played one of its best matches against a much bigger Advance squad.
"It's a little intimidating, but I was happy with the way we played," she said.
Advance's JV (13-7) won 25-19, 25-13.
Jackson 25-25, Fredericktown 19-15
Jackson swept the visiting Blackcats to capture its 18th win.
The Indians (18-8-1) were led by Linden Hahs, who had 10 digs. Laura Johnson added nine digs and Jodie Gipson had four aces.
Jackson's JV won 25-12, 21-25, 25-16.
Leopold 25-25, Richland 12-18
Wendy Vandeven dished out 20 assists to lead Leopold to a home sweep.
The Wildcats (15-4) were led in kills by Tasha Thele's 11. Lori Vandermierden added seven and Amber Nenninger had six.
Thele led Leopold with six aces and Toni Eftink and Jessica Stoverink had three apiece. Vandeven led the way with five blocks, Vandermierden had four and Nenninger added two.
Leopold's JV (3-13) lost 25-14, 22-25, 22-25.
Scott City 19-25-25, Chaffee 25-14-18
Scott City won in three games on the road.
The Rams (15-8-2) got a big performance from Kacie Cartwright as she had had eight kills, three aces and 10 digs. Abby Cook added five kills and two blocks for Scott City, and Amanda Raines led the Rams with seven assists.
Scott City's JV won 25-15, 25-17.
Saxony Lutheran JV 17-25-25, Perryville freshmen 25-13-18
Saxony Lutheran, which does not yet have a varsity team, improved to 5-16 by slipping past Perryville's freshmen squad.
JV FOOTBALL
Central 24, NMCC 6
Ty Craft had two touchdowns and a two-point conversion to lift Central (4-0) over New Madrid County Central.
Craft had one receiving touchdown and one rushing. Scott Dunaway, making his first start at quarterback, rushed for 60 yards. Craft added 60 yards rushing and Scott Brueckner had 30 yards rushing. Brueckner also had a touchdown pass to Brandon Seabaugh for 80 yards.
Daniel Martin led the defense with 10 tackles. Craft had an interception and the Tigers forced two fumbles.
