COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The Advance boys basketball team recovered from a semifinal loss a day earlier with a 69-53 victory over Leeton in the Class 1 third-place game on Friday at Mizzou Arena.
The Hornets got off to a fast start, led by junior Austin Ladd, who scored his team's first six points.
After Leeton took a three point lead with 3 minutes, 27 seconds remaining in the first, the Hornets answered with a 14-2 run to close out the opening period with a 22-13 advantage.
Advance did not trail for the remainder of the game and led 37-29 at halftime.
In the third, the Hornets limited the Bulldogs to just 10 shots from the field and outscored them 16-7.
Advance's Dalton Wilson ended his career with the Hornets on a high note. The senior scored a game-high 16 points in the win.
