The Scott County Central Bravettes capped their run at the First State Community Bank Holiday Classic with a 66-53 win over the Cairo Lady Pilots on Wednesday, Dec. 20, at the Show Me Center.

The 11th place game was the Bravettes first win of the tournament. The No. 10 seed went down to Scott City in their first matchup of the tournament on Dec. 16 then fell to Meadow Heights the following day.

Junior guard Alysa Adams led the team in scoring with 25 points. Lainey Glueck scored 15 points and Reagen Evans added 12 points. As a team, Scott County Central shot 7-of-10 from the free throw line.

“I could have done a little better,” Adams said. “I’m just proud that we won.”

Scott County Central took charge from the opening tip, getting up on the Lady Pilots early with the score being 21-11 after the first quarter. The Bravettes were able to maintain their lead throughout the game.

“I’m pretty proud of us. We all performed together well,” Adams said. “We all pitched in tonight and that's how we got the win.”

After going 1-2 in their first Holiday Classic, the Bravettes improved their season record to 5-6, just shy of that 500 mark.

With a 2 week break until Scott County Central’s next game, Adams said the team will look to “work as a team consistently” along with having less turnovers and taking more shots on the net for the remainder of the season.

With the Bravettes ending the FSCB Holiday Classic on a high note, their next objective will be to take down the undefeated Delta Lady Bobcats. They will be put to the test at their next game on January 4th at 7:30pm.

“That’s our No. 1 goal,” Adams said on facing Delta. “Hopefully we’ll pitch in and work as a team consistently.”
