My top 5 ways to stay warm in winter

Classic beef and noodles: Slow-cooked or oven-baked

The first recipe request of the New Year! Recently I had a friend ask me for a recipe for a beef and noodle dish. Sometimes it may be better to surrender
(Community ~ 01/12/14)
Often you think of surrender as weakness, cowardice or laziness. But can it be a good thing? First, what does it mean to surrender? Some dictionaries' definitions are "laying down of arms, give in, admit defeat and submission." None of these words sounds very appealing, do they? After all, who wants to feel powerless, like he's a weakling or someone who lacks courage? To surrender means to stop trying, doesn't it? That's a less-than-attractive trait...

Straight up or on a bun try an Asian flank steak
(Community ~ 01/12/14)
Flank steak isn't particularly Chinese in origin, but in honor of the Chinese New Year, we decided to pretend by dressing it up with classic Asian flavors. We start by marinating it in five-spice powder, rice vinegar and soy sauce. Then while the steak is absorbing all those rich flavors, we grate a daikon radish (they resemble giant white carrots, but have a mild peppery bite) and toss in grated fresh ginger, scallions and red bell pepper for a simple slaw with just enough assertiveness to cut through the savory heft of the steak.. ...
