Dr. Grow: In pursuit of the low-maintenance lawn
(Column ~ 07/18/01)
My first introduction to zoysia grass was in the late 1960s. I saw a Sunday newspaper supplement that advertised mail order plugs of zoysia grass. The ad suggested that this dense, slow-growing, soft-to-the-foot grass eliminated several mowings a year, allowed no weeds to grow, required no fertilizer, and needed very little water to survive. This sounded like the perfect grass...

IF YOU think Democrats have a monopoly on illicit marital affairs, you are a tragic victim of the ostrich syndrome, which is in keeping with most other GOP thinking. PRO-LIFERS GOING WOBBLY ON STEM CELLS
(Column ~ 07/18/01)
Pro-lifers who are opposed to human embryonic stem-cell research are not being fanatical, but consistent and principled. But pro-lifers in favor of such research are on shaky ground.
