VISITING UTOPIA: HISTORIC VILLAGE OFFERS LOOK AT SOCIETY BASED ON HARMONIC LIFESTYLE
(Local News ~ 07/28/98)
The Antheneum is the starting point for visitors seeking tours of Historic New Harmony. It was built by architect Richard Meier in 1979 and is named for the Greek goddess Athena and means "place of learning." A mirror in the upstairs men's bedroom of the Lenz House reflects the simplistic lifestyle of the Harmonists. LETTERS: JUDGE SHOWS CONSIDERABLE OPTIMISM
(Letter to the Editor ~ 07/28/98)
I commend Judge Syler on his optimism in recommending probation for the young man who vandalized and robbed the Oak Ridge school. I do think that the young man proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is already bordering on hard core because of his lack of respect for the law and his stubborn unwillingness to apologize. I would not be the least bit surprised to see this young man in trouble in the future.JODI THOMPSONJackson...

BETWEEN THE LINES: WINNING LOTTERY CHANGES MORE THAN JUST LUCK
(Column ~ 07/28/98)
I am one of the few people in Missouri who didn't buy a lottery ticket for the $250 million Powerball drawing Wednesday. Despite the frenzy in local lottery outlets, I didn't make an attempt to join the lines of hopeful winners. I even passed on the office lottery pool collected for Saturday's drawing. Because none of my co-workers won that pool, I suppose they'll be buying tickets for the next lottery drawing as well...
