Sarah Holt, administrator of Cape Girardeau Surgical Clinic, 10 Doctors' Park, has been honored for her past year of leadership as president of the Medical Group Managers Association for the State of Missouri. Holt, who was honored during the group's annual conference at Lake of the Ozarks, will continue to serve on the board of directors as immediate past president. Navy officials had their first look at a modified T-39N aircraft in June 1991 at the Perryville Municipal Airport. They apparently liked what they saw. Since then, the Navy has used the T-39Ns for its Undergraduate Naval Flight Officers training program at Pensacola, Fla. Until 1997, the training program was under a contract with Sabreliner Corp, with Sabreliner providing maintenance and pilot contract services...

Davis Photography Studio, formerly of 1407 Primrose Lane, has moved to 814 W. Main St. in Jackson. The studio is owned and operated by Brad and Leslie Davis of Jackson. The Davis' purchased the Main Street property in December. Interior renovations were completed May 1, and the studio is now open for business. ...

Jo Anne Macke and her granddaughter, Bridgitte Macke, selected "Flubber" at Hastings Books, Music and Video. There's nothing new about video stores. They've been with us since the VCR made them possible. But with increased outlets for movies on cable, pay-per-view and increased theatrical screens locally, video stores are hanging tough and growing...

NationsBank is No. 1 among U.S. banks making SBA-guaranteed loans to small business in 1997, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration. NationsBank made 1,178 SBA-guaranteed loans for about $114 million in 1997, an average of $95,000 a loan. The bank also was ranked as the No. 1 lender to small businesses by American Banker, with $7 billion in small business loans in 1997...

ADVANCE -- Most every student feels at some point that they deserved a better grade than they received on a project. It's a disappointment to work hard and not be rewarded for effort put forth. Sixteen gambling casinos in Missouri reported revenues of $15.3 million in April while Illinois' revenues for nine casinos topped $20.9 million for the same month. If you add revenues from slot machines, the totals jump to $65 million in Missouri and more than $90 million in Illinois...

In both Cape Girardeau and Jackson, housing starts are up for the first half of 1998. To the editor: I recently purchased a new pickup truck by ordering from the factory through a dealer. This way I was able to get the desired extras that I wanted without having to take anything that I didn't want -- all except air bags. This truck was equipped with two air bags which I did not want but which were forced on me by an unconstitutional act by an unconstitutional government agency which is playing the part of God...
