(Letter to the Editor ~ 04/08/95)

RIGHT OF CENTER: FINDING A RESOLUTE FAITH
(Column ~ 04/08/95)
How mankind faces adversity and suffering today as opposed to 150 years ago says a lot about the decline of the West as a political and philosophical beacon to the world. I recall a horrible accident on an interstate highway near Chicago last year in which a man and woman lost several children on their way to a church outing. The couple grieved and yet expressed a hope that sustained them through the ordeal and confounded the media who were covering the story...

The surprises from the Cape Girardeau school board keep coming. Less than a week after voters elected two new board members, John Campbell resigned from the board. LETTERS: AGREES WITH EDITORIAL ON V-E AND V-Y DAY
(Letter to the Editor ~ 04/08/95)
To the editor: I usually read the editorials of the Southeast Missourian. I agree with what you said about Clinton being in Russia on V-E Day and changing V-J Day to the "End of the Pacific War." Maybe Clinton needed to see so many dead Marines stacked up that they had to take a bulldozer and plow a trench about four feet deep and then lay the dead Marines wrapped in a blanket side by side to be covered up for the time being. ...

LETTERS: OUTSIDERS SHOULD MIND THEIR OWN BUSINESS
(Letter to the Editor ~ 04/08/95)
To the editor: I am writing in regards to R. Joe Sullivan's column last Sunday. It was excellent. I am outraged by the fact that these people have the nerve to come to our city and butt into something that is none of their business. They don't even live here. The only thing I think we can do for them is pray, because they are going to need it more than anybody...

SPEAKOUT
(Speak Out ~ 04/08/95)
A FEW words about the recent Chaffee city election. The reason Bob Capshaw is a gracious loser is because he is a big winner in life. He has done more for Chaffee than any person in the history of Chaffee. What a wonderful man. I'D JUST like to say that I'm happy to hear that Carol Keeler is moving to St. Louis. She's done enough to try to stir up racial unrest in this conservative town. I hope she will feel more comfortable and more at home in St. Louis...
