Strawberry growers in the Cape Girardeau area say cloudy, cool and wet weather conditions this month are delaying development of strawberry plants and may push back the first picking of berries until mid-to-late-May. Meanwhile, area orchard owners say the cool, wet weather has also delayed development of blooms on what promises to be an excellent crop of peaches and apples later this year...

Dispatchers at the Cape Girardeau Police Department will be sporting a bright red button this week. The buttons read: "When you need help, we're there." In honor of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, April 11-17, Cape Girardeau Mayor Gene Rhodes signed a proclamation last week recognizing those who serve as "that pivotal link between the citizen or victim and the public safety provider who may apprehend a criminal, save their worldly possessions from fire, save their life or the life of a loved one," it said.. ...

`SESAME STREET LIVE' DRAWS 8,354 TO 4 SHOWS

Sesame Street Live's production of "Big Bird and the ABC's" drew a total of 8,354 people to the four shows at the Show Me Center over the weekend.
