Mr. and Mrs. R. Graham Wagoner of Cape Girardeau celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary May 1, 2012.

Wagoner and Evonne Phillips were married May 1, 1942, by the Rev. O.A. Wayman, at the bride's home near Bates City, Mo. Their attendants were Ozelle Wagoner, sister of the groom, and Gordon Barnett, cousin of the groom.

The Wagoners have two sons, Phil and wife Leta of Cape Girardeau, and Daryl and wife Ellen of Fort Worth, Texas. They have two granddaughters, Laura McClard and husband Lance of Cape Girardeau and Leslie Wagoner of St. Louis. The couple has two great-grandchildren, Ainsley and Finn McClard of Cape Girardeau.

Mr. and Mrs. Wagoner have lived in Cape Girardeau since 1949, when he joined the faculty of Southeast Missouri State University.
