Maurice and Beatrice Stauffer of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary Dec. 11, 2012.
The couple was married Dec. 11, 1942, in Detroit, Mich., where he was in training for Coast Guard duties, which also took them to Cincinnati. After training he was stationed in New York and then at Pearl Harbor.
After the war they returned to Southeast Missouri where they have lived since. Stauffer was a farmer and land developer. Mrs. Stauffer was a church worker and community volunteer.
They have two children, Dale (Janet) Stauffer of Boston, Mass., and Kay (Roger) Tolliver of Cape Girardeau. They have a granddaughter, Amy (Scott) Hatmaker of Atlanta, Ga., and three great-grandchildren.
