Saupe and Marlene Bodenschatz were married June 29, 1957, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells.

They have a son, Rick Saupe and friend Kathy Leimbach of Jackson; two grandchildren, Jesse (Sara) Saupe and Amber Saupe of Cape Girardeau; and a great-grandchild, Gavin Saupe.
