Organizers of the Friends of Old Lorimier Cemetery fundraising campaign are hoping to have enough money by the end of the month to erect a security fence around the vandalism-plagued site.

The 11th annual Fall Roundup of the Southeast Missouri Area Council brought 1,398 Boy Scouts, Cubs and leaders to Cape Girardeau yesterday for the largest crowd of Scouts ever assembled at one time in this district. After a supper of wieners, milk and apples, the visitors paraded down Broadway to Houck Field Stadium, where they were guests of the Teachers College at the football game.
Work commenced Monday on the stretch of road connecting the west end of the new macadamized street, Main Street, in Fornfelt with the rock road at Ancell, under the direction of Chris Heisserer, the road overseer for the district. Businessmen and residents here, with the assistance of Cape Girardeau businessmen, raised $2,000 to perform this work and were granted a like amount by the county court of Scott County.
The Cape Girardeau Normal School football team, under the leadership of Coach Ferdinand Courleaux, leaves in the afternoon for Carbondale, Illinois, where it will meet the Normal team of that place tomorrow. The Cape boys are expecting a hard game, as the Carbondale players outweigh the Girardeans by 15 or 20 pounds to the man.
