Linder Deimund and Peter H. Deimund are preparing to sink a second oil test well in the district, this one near Commerce, Missouri; if the weather is favorable, the second test shaft will be started within six weeks at a point a mile southwest of Commerce; the first test is being made in the southeast corner of Bollinger County.
School bonds and interest coupons amounting to $44,777.50, which have matured and been paid, are burned by the board of education at a meeting at Central High School in the evening.
Elmo Kassel left last night for Caruthersville, Missouri, to help out his brother Ottie's band, which is furnishing music at a gathering in that city; Ottie Kassel is manager of a jewelry store in Hayti, Missouri, and has gained a wide reputation in the lower end of the state with his band and orchestra.
The appointment of George C. Beean as postmaster of Illmo has been confirmed by the United States Senate; the office pays a salary of $1,000 a year.
