Bruce H. Schoen of rural Jackson has been selected as the new bishop of the Cape Girardeau Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; in turn, he selected Dr. Perry Roberts and Michael J. Ross, both of Cape Girardeau, as counselors.

Operation of the Standard Oil Co.'s new Mississippi River terminal in South Cape Girardeau begins; two tanks, with a total capacity of 1,500,000 gallons, are filled with gasoline pumped over the weekend from barges towed here from Wood River, Illinois; the company has constructed rather elaborate dock facilities on the river, a large pipeline running from the river to the large storage tanks.
The members of Centenary Methodist Church had a reunion in the new church last night, there being at least 500 members and friends present; the big new basement was used, and to the surprise of all, it was nice and cool; ice cream and cake were served.
In order to enable Mrs. Emma Stone, wife of Will Stone, formerly of Cape Girardeau, to secure her seventh part of the estate of her parents, the property of the late Mrs. Rosa Albert is sold at the courthouse by the sheriff; the Albert house and property on West Broadway bring $6,500; the South Field, south of the Albert house, brings $3,016, and the Rohan lots nearby, $550; the other six heirs will form a corporation to keep the property and manage it.
