Dr. John T. Crowe, 69, a longtime civic leader and physician who practiced medicine here for 37 years, dies at a local hospital following a lengthy illness; at the time of his retirement in 1985, Crowe estimated he delivered nearly 3,000 babies during his medical career.

The tables are turned on more than 50 Cape Girardeau public school teachers, when they go to class at Cape Central Junior High; instead of teaching, they learn new ways to prepare their students for college.

The State College Indians wrapped up their third straight Missouri Intercollegiate Athletic Association basketball crown Saturday with an 85-80 win over Rolla, Mo.; athletic director Kenneth Knox says the Indians will host the National Collegiate Athletic Association's college-division southwest regional tournament March 8-9.

State College basketball player Carl Ritter's sore knee, which he injured in the game with Maryville, Mo., Feb. 9, held up against Rolla, after he had rested it for three games; Ritter scored 15 points in Saturday's game; leading scorer for the Indians was Bill Giessing with 31.

In a final session this afternoon at the Broadway Theater, the Missourian's 12th annual cooking school comes to a close, with an attendance at the four session of at least 1,000 more than at any previous school.

The area now occupied by tennis courts across the plaza south from Academic Hall has been definitely selected as the site for the new library and museum building at the Teachers College, says Dr. W.W. Parker.

At the meeting of the stockholders of the Cape Girardeau Fair & Park Association Saturday, it was decided to hold the fair as usual next fall; there was some opposition to another fair, because most every year there has been a financial loss; the men who voted against holding another fair were Clyde Vandivort of Jackson, and Julius Meyer and Charles Blattner, both living near Cape Girardeau.

Dr. J.B. Roberts, who has been in St. Louis the past two weeks attending special lectures at the St. Louis University Dental College, is still in St. Louis; he was expected home Sunday, but has been detained by illness.
