Stan Seabaugh, a 15-year-old high-school sophomore from Cape Girardeau, recently was named Missouri Young American Bowling Alliance's Male Bowler of the Year for 1990-1991.

1966

The Christmas observance for many Girardeans began last night, with a variety of services at local churches; a traditional children's service was held at 7:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, followed by a midnight worship service that was broadcast over radio station KFVS; that service featured teenagers of the congregation; readings were given by Robert Brinkopf, Karen and James Fuhrmann, Jennifer Strom, Sharon Gerken and Diana Miller.

Having won his battle for life following open-heart surgery at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Archie T. Smiley, 49, is celebrating Christmas with his family in Cape Girardeau.

1941

With business generally suspended, Cape Girardeau observes Christmas in the conventional manner, although somewhat subdued; in many a home there is a vacancy in the family circle because of the war, and in all cases there are thoughts of those who are far away in camp or on the sea serving their country.

Vernon Kramer of St. Louis, formerly of Cape Girardeau, en route here in the evening to visit friends for the holiday, is thrilled to see a live deer; the half-grown doe is spotted standing on the pavement on Highway 25, about two miles north of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri.

1916

Three little tots are made happy by having a Christmas such as they have never known; Hazel Harrison plays fairy godmother, inviting little Charles Brown and Virginia and Mabel Skies to assist her in the coming of Santa Claus; the children are Harrison's guests for the day and receive many pretty presents, as well as useful ones.

Jennie Sparks of Collinsville, Illinois, is spending the Christmas holidays in Cape Girardeau with her brother, B.V. Rogers, on South Pacific Street.
