Thomas G. Ogilvie is inducted as vicar of the Lutheran Chapel of Hope for the 1993-1994 academic year at Southeast Missouri State University; Ogilvie will serve the chapel on the university campus as well as Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel, under the supervision of its pastor, the Rev. William A. Matzat.

The Rev. Walter Trost preaches his final sermon in the morning at Christ Evangelical Church; he came here June 6 to pastor the church during the summer months and will go from here to his home in Milwaukee for a brief vacation before returning to Eden Seminary at Webster Groves, Missouri, for his final year of school work.
The first native of Cape Girardeau County has paid the supreme sacrifice; Clarence Altenthal, who left Cape Girardeau with Company L, was killed in battle in France; Henry Altenthal yesterday was advised of his son's death at the battle front Aug. 14; after training at Camp Funston with Company L, young Altenthal was transferred to a machine gun company; it is presumed death overtook him while he was serving with one of the numerous squads on the Picardy front in the fierce fighting of the last few weeks.
